Day 13 Interislander ferry and Coastal Pacific train

We are up early and head to the Interislander ferry terminal for our 9 am crossing from Wellinton to Picton. The crossing takes about 2.5 hours and today is sunny and the seas are calm for this part of the world. We are able to see both the North and South Islands as we cross and as we enter the Marlbourough Sounds the trip gets very scenic..  travelling up the winding waterways with rising hills on either side. We arrive in Picton where we have a 5 minute walk to the train station to board the Coastal Train for our trip south to Christchurch, much of it along the eastern coast where we are once again given access to audio commentary. We arrive in Christchurch and after settling in we head to a restaurant where it turns out there is open mike. We eat and stay for a while listening to the music  .. which is very good !
